10 June is Portugal Day, also known as the Day of Camões and the Portuguese Communities — a date that celebrates our country, the Portuguese language, and all Portuguese people around the world. It also marks the anniversary of the death of Luís de Camões, Portugal's greatest poet. It's a holiday of national pride, and in many cities, it's marked by official ceremonies, parades, and cultural events.
13 June is a particularly special day for those living in Lisbon: it's St. Anthony's Day, honouring the city's patron saint and the beloved "matchmaker" saint. During this time, Lisbon's traditional neighbourhoods come alive with colour, music, grilled sardines, potted basil (manjericos), and festive street parades known as Marchas Populares. These marches are a cherished tradition dating back to 1932, deeply rooted in the city's culture and celebrating the identity and spirit of its communities. On the night of 12 June, the iconic Avenida da Liberdade turns into a vibrant stage as neighbourhoods compete in a friendly contest, proudly showcasing their performances to enthusiastic crowds. It's one of the most anticipated and joyful events of the year!
This year, on 19 June, there will also be the moveable feast of Corpus Christi, a Catholic celebration of the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, traditionally marked by processions in various dioceses across the country.

Marca também o dia da morte de Luís de Camões, o nosso maior poeta. É um feriado de orgulho nacional e, em muitas cidades, há celebrações oficiais, desfiles e eventos culturais.
Já o 13 de junho é muito especial para quem vive em Lisboa: é o dia de Santo António, o santo casamenteiro e padroeiro da cidade. Nesta altura, os bairros lisboetas enchem-se de cor, música, sardinhas assadas, manjericos e marchas populares. As Marchas Populares de Lisboa são um evento tradicional que remonta a 1932, profundamente enraizado na cultura da cidade, celebrando a identidade e o espírito dos seus bairros. A emblemática Avenida da Liberdade transforma-se num palco de festa durante a noite de 12 de junho, quando os bairros competem amigavelmente, desfilando com orgulho as suas marchas perante uma plateia entusiasta. É um dos momentos mais aguardados e animados do ano!
Este ano, a 19 de junho haverá o feriado móvel do Corpo de Deus, uma festa católica que celebra a presença de Cristo na Eucaristia, com procissões em várias dioceses.
